Bulgaria and Italy to consolidate their relations within EU and NATO

H. E. Giuseppina Zarra (L) and Irena Dimitrova

Italy’s Ambassador to Bulgaria Giuseppina Zarra has met with Bulgaria’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Irena Dimitrova. The two discussed the excellent bilateral cooperation and partnership between the two countries within the EU and NATO, and the war in Ukraine.

Italy is Bulgaria’s fourth biggest trade partner. There are more than 12,000 companies with Italian participation in the country. The relations between the two countries must be consolidated in future, and trade partnership boosted by extending it to strategic transport sectors, infrastructure, digital technologies and energy, BTA reports.

Regarding the question of North Macedonia’s accession to the EU, Deputy Minister Dimitrova confirmed Bulgaria’s position, laying emphasis on the headway in the negotiations with Skopje.
