Bulgaria's Council for Electronic Media (CEM) will temporarily restrict the broadcasting of the Russian television channels Russia Today and Sputnik on the territory of Bulgaria. The reasons for the decision point to the gross violation of international law by the Russian Federation and the encroachment on territorial integrity through military intervention against Ukraine, as well as the restrictive measures taken within the EU in response to the crisis.

The Council for Electronic Media also cited a provision in the Radio and Television Act banning media services from inciting violence or hatred on some of the grounds set out in the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights.
The decision has already been sent to the Communications Regulation Commission, which must take action.
