Speaking about the tension between Russia and Ukraine, as a result of the Russian recognition of the independence of Donetsk and Luhansk, Bulgarian Prime Minister Kiril Petkov told parliament that Bulgaria was a very reliable partner in the European Union and NATO. He added that Bulgaria was in solidarity with the sanctions, while considering options for delivery of energy sources. "We are taking care of the Bulgarian interests, but we are working together with the EU," Petkov said, adding that in case of a crisis with gas supplies, export of electricity from Bulgaria could stop.

He also pointed out that the pipeline that delivers gas to Bulgaria is the same that delivers gas both to Serbia and Hungary - Russia's strategic partners. On the other hand, Petkov recalled that he was in constant contact with his Greek counterpart Kyriakos Mitsotakis for the construction of the gas connection with Greece.
