“Many of the promises made have not been kept, that is why the European leaders do not trust Bulgaria about Schengen,” Prime Minister Kiril Petkov told reporters in Brussels, as he commented the reservations some European politicians have and why they oppose Bulgaria’s entry into the Schengen area.

PM Petkov stressed that the country must build up trust by starting to observe the criteria. That, in his words, means no smuggling along the borders, control of the European border, and also that the country guarantee that the laws will be observed.
