The importance of the Black Sea region, the Schengen area and bilateral relations were the main topics of conversation between Bulgaria's Vice President Iliana Iotova and the Romanian Ambassador in Sofia, Her Excellency  Brândușa Predescu

The Vice President stressed the need to include Black Sea projects in the National Recovery and Sustainability Plans. The topic of the two countries' Schengen membership was also discussed, as well as the need for coordinated action.

"It is unclear how the accession of Bulgaria and Romania is in line with the idea of French President Emmanuel Macron to reform the Schengen area. Our countries are facing new and new political conditions under long-met technical criteria," said Iliana Iotova.

This year marks the 30th anniversary of the Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Good Neighbourliness between Bulgaria and Romania. In this regard, the Romanian Ambassador noted the dynamic dialogue between the two governments.

For her part, Iotova emphasized the projects under the Danube Strategy and thanked the Romanian state for its care for the Bulgarian community.

The Vice President invited HE Brândușa Predescu to join the informal club of ladies ambassadors, initiated by Iotova, which regularly organizes discussions on current topics.
