A working group of the Energy and Water Regulatory Commission is launching a probe into contracts signed at the trading platform of Balkan Gas Hub EAD between February 1 and 7, 2022.

The probe follows a statement of Rumen Ovcharov, former Minister of Energy of Bulgaria, who said in a TV interview that the new management of Bulgargaz sold 60,000 megawatt hours of natural gas in just 3 seconds to Romania. Later, Bulgargaz and Bulgaria’s Minister of Energy Alexander Nikolov refuted Rumen Ovcharov’s claim.
