"Conservation and sustainable use of saltwater wetlands in the Black Sea and Mediterranean region" is the topic of an international webinar organized today by the Bulgarian Biodiversity Foundation, the Bulgarian Society for the Protection of Birds and the Protection and Preservation of Natural Environment in Albania NGO.

At the event dedicated to the World Wetlands Day, participants from eight European countries share experiences from the projects they are working on in locations such as the coastal lagoon Atanasovsko Lake, Poda Lake and Pomorie Lake in Bulgaria, Narta Salina (Albania), Camargue (France), Cadiz (Spain), Ulcinj (Montenegro), Cap-Atlantique (France), and others.

Bulgaria is among the first countries that joined the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands, signed on February 2, 1971 in the Iranian city of Ramsar. The document focuses on the protection of wetlands, which play an essential role in preserving biodiversity and climate.
