The ships and planes coming from Spain and the Netherlands to Bulgaria were not sent due to an emergency, but are part of the Air Policing mission, agreed in 2016, Prime Minister Kiril Petkov said.

"Obviously, the tensions have been rising, but I wouldn't say they are going to escalate to war." This is what Prime Minister Kiril Petkov said on the occasion of convening the Security Council by the government.

"We will be a constructive partner and ally in NATO and the EU, so that we are in line with our allies, but we should have a clear idea that the decisions that are made are based on the Bulgarian security services. I am sure that the decisions we make will protect the Bulgarian national interest," the Prime Minister added.
