Calculated on the basis of the 2022 budget submitted, the deficit for this year is envisaged at 4.1%, commented Kiril Ananiev from GERB party at a briefing, as quoted by BTA. However, Kiril Ananiev says, that is not the real figure because at the end of last year the cash outflow registered was more than 2 billion LEVA (EUR 1 billion) and the figure will more likely be around 6%.

According to Ananiev, this is the first Bulgarian government which does not have a programme of its own. “I have 30 years of work at the Finance Ministry and I cannot remember a budget ever having been done this way, with the exception of 1997 when the budget was done every month,” Kiril Ananiev said and added: “I wouldn’t want us to revert to that old practice.”
