Russia's security proposals include the withdrawal of NATO forces from Bulgaria and Romania, the Russian Foreign Ministry announced, quoted by RIA Novosti.

"One of the pillars of our initiatives is very clearly formulated and does not create prerequisites for ambiguous interpretations. We are talking about the withdrawal of foreign troops, military hardware and weapons, as well as taking other steps to return to the 1997 configuration on the territory of countries which were not NATO members at that time, including Bulgaria and Romania, "the Russian Foreign Ministry noted in a written response to a question of the BNR asked during the annual press conference of Russia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergey Lavrov.

GERB party requested an extraordinary hearing of Bulgaria’s Premier, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of Defense in Parliament.
