The number of sheep in Bulgaria has been declining. At the moment, it is about 987,000, while three years ago the number of sheep reached 1.3 million. This is shown by the statistics from the open data portal, reporter Veselina Milanova informed. According to the chairman of the Association of Sheep Breeders, Simeon Karakolev, however, the difference was due not so much to a real reduction as to the removal of virtual animals from the electronic system. The current number of pigs in the country is 553,000, cattle - 534,000, goats - 156,000, and there are just over 15,000 horses. Poultry farming remains the most attractive for farmers with more than 29 million birds, including 144 ostriches.
