The Hemus motorway will be fully ready in 2027, and only if there are no appeals, it became clear from the meeting with the regional minister Grozdan Karadzhov. Billions are still being sought for funding.

Struma motorway is also very far from completion because of the section cutting through Kresna Gorge and it is not at all certain that it will be able to rely on EU funding. Other reasons for the delay are the huge delays in the approval of projects, environmental assessments, development plans and land expropriation.

The European Commission is against the route of the Struma motorway through the Kresna Gorge, said the Minister of Environment Borislav Sandov before the relevant parliamentary committee and added that the latest version of the Recovery Plan, which includes this project, will be sent to Brussels by January 16. .
