Tennis: Grigor Dimitrov qualifies for semifinals in Melbourne

Bulgaria's Grigor Dimitrov has qualified for the semifinals of the ATP 250 tennis tournament in Melbourne after defeating Botic van de Zandschulp of the Netherlands in a marathon match and nearly three hours of play. The match ended with the result of the three sets on Rod Laver Arena 6-7 (5), 6-0, 7-5. In his first match in the race, which is a warm-up for the Australian Open, Dimitrov defeated Argentine Facundo Banis.

For a place in the final on January 8, the Bulgarian player will face the qualifier from the USA Maxime Cressy who defeated the Spaniard Jaume Munar with 7-6 (3), 6-4. This will be the first match between Dimitrov and Cressy who is ranked 112th in the world.
