The Christmas concert of the Big Band of the BNR this year is on December 17 in the capital's Bulgaria Hall. The soloist is Orlin Pavlov, whom we know as a vocalist of the band "Kaffe" at the beginning of his career, and later as a solo singer with many successful projects. Among his stage partners we see jazz pianist Zhivko Petrov and his trio JP3, as well as Brazz Association and the Sofia Philharmonic under the baton of Angel Zaberski Jr.
In 2019, Orlin Pavlov became part of the artistic ensemble of the musical "Les Misérables", for the long-awaited premiere of the Sofia Opera and Ballet, in the role of Javert. He also has a successful acting career with several roles in Bulgarian cinema.
In the upcoming concert Orlin Pavlov will perform evergreens from the 50s, 60s and 70s of the past century, some of his hits, as well as popular Christmas songs. The arrangements are by Vasil Spasov (composer, pianist) and Antoni Donchev - conductor of the Big Band of the Bulgarian National Radio. The BNR has a recording of one of the favorite jazz standards (L-O-V-E), created nearly two decades ago.
The author of the music is Bert Kaempfertand the lyrics are by Milt Gabler. The song was first recorded in 1965 by Nat King Cole. Listen to it arranged by Lyubomir Denev; the performance is by Orlin Pavlov and the Big Band of the Bulgarian National Radio. Conductor is Yanko Miladinov.
