"The moratorium on electricity, heating and water prices is a disappointing move, which is incompatible with the market economy concept", Nikola Yankov, former Deputy Minister of Economy and  Deputy Minister of Transport said for the BNR. "A modern European country does not govern via moratoriums. The Parliament cannot fix prices in a market economy. The vulnerable groups can be compensated through budgetary programmes", Nikola Yankov noted. In his words the moratorium will be declared unconstitutional, because it violates European pricing directives and directives on the free movement of goods and services.
"The bad precedent set by this decision will have a cooling effect on investments in Bulgaria's energy sector," Nikola Yankov predicted.
