Bulgaria has a significant potential in developing wine tourism, this country‘s caretaker Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Food and Forestry Yavor Gechev said at a discussion themed "Trends in tourism and tourists’ new preferences for green and sustainable products."

Deputy Minister Gechev announced that between 50 and 100 Bulgarian wineries will join a pilot project for voluntary traceability standard and will be promoted around the world. The project is under an agreement signed with the International Organization of Vine and Wine. It envisages the creation of a digital barcode, which will provide detailed information about the product - grape variety, growing region, bottling location, etc.
