A “Sofia forum for the Western Balkans” is taking place on 6 December under the motto: Time to rebuild trust, with the participation of Oliver Varhelyi, EU Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement.

“Talking about history is important, but talking about protecting human rights in the present is essential,” European Parliament’s standing rapporteur for North Macedonia MEP Ilhan Kyuchyuk, co-organizer of the forum, said for the BNR.

“The implementation of the 2017 treaty of friendship and goodneighbourhood is possible if trust is rebuilt. The new government in Sofia will have the chance of starting a construction dialogue,” Ilhan Kyuchyuk added.
