The section of Struma motorway where the recent tragic bus accident occurred, was not issued an Act 16, a document that ascertains the suitability for use, because expropriation procedures have not been completed, this country’s caretaker Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Violeta Komitova announced at a briefing.

The report on the condition of the road section Dragichevo-Dolna Dikanya confirms that this section is a high-speed road, not a motorway. We still don’t know what caused the fire onboard the passenger bus, Minister Komitova further said and added that the bus was not speeding before the accident.

According to Bulgaria’s Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works, the speed limit in this section of Struma motorway should be reduced from 120 km/h to 90 km/h.
