Protesters block off traffic with Turkey twice

A protest demonstration blocked traffic at Kapitan Andreevo border checkpoint twice today. The protesters blocked off incoming traffic from Turkey, in protest against the so-called election tourism, alleging that buses were crossing the border with passengers coming to vote in Bulgaria.

Minutes before 9 AM around 50 people blocked off incoming traffic from Turkey. An hour and a half later, after negotiations with the police, the traffic was restored. However, at around 11.15 AM, traffic was again blocked.

BNR’s correspondent in Haskovo Dora Atanasova reports that, at this time, traffic across the border checkpoint is normal.
