Almost every fifth child in Bulgaria is a smoker

No Smoking Day is celebrated on the third Thursday of November. This year it goes under the motto "Let's win together: a month without nicotine!"

According to data of Bulgaria’s Ministry of Health, 34.5% of this country‘s population over the age of 20 smoke cigarettes daily. Almost every fifth child in Bulgaria is a current smoker. The share of young female smokers is slightly higher than that of young male smokers.

Several days ago, Eurostat announced that Bulgaria has the biggest share of cigarette smokers in the EU.
