At a ceremony, President Rumen Radev handed the national flag to the 30th consecutive national expedition to Antarctica.

“Nobody has any doubts anymore that the observations and scientific research in Antarctica are a key to the environment, the fight against climate change, and the unravelling of the secrets of our planet. Bulgaria is among the Polar countries and it has incessantly been asserting its prestigious place on the world map of scientific achievements,” President Radev said.

The expedition’s leader Prof. Hristo Pimpirev replied that they feel proud to be developing cutting-edge science and making discoveries affecting the entire human race. During the new season a new laboratory will be built for work in more modern conditions, Prof. Pimpirev stated.
