The leaders of "We Continue the Change" party that won the parliamentary elections, Kiril Petkov and Assen Vassilev, are ready for a change in the Bulgarian approach to negotiations with North Macedonia. "We want a new approach to resolving the issues between Skopje and Sofia. This time, when it comes to the Bulgarian side, politicians would not be an obstacle," Petkov said in an interview with the Media Information Agency. Vassilev added that when it comes to relations between the two countries we should talk more about the future and the present.

Speaking about comments that Bulgaria was under great pressure from the United States on the issue, Petkov said: “There is no one on this planet who could pick up the phone and tell us to do this or that. The only way for someone to make us do something is to convince us that this is the right thing for Bulgaria," BGNES reports.
