Bulgarian Academy of Sciences searches for solutions to reduce negative effects of climate change

Photo: BNR

Scientists of the Forest Research Institute at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences have focused their efforts on studying the development and adaptation of forests to climatic and anthropogenic effects. They see human activity and natural factors as the main causes of forest fires in this country. Their occurrence is often due to human activity, which is expressed in the careless handling of fire by hunters and tourists, uncontrolled stubble burning, production and transport activities and even forgotten glass bottles.

Scientists have joined forces in preparing a comprehensive plan for management and mitigation of the effects of climate change and human intervention on Bulgarian forests.
