Medical care professionals held a protest today in front of the Ministry of Health. They want their salaries to be not lower than two minimum monthly salaries, or about 664 euros and called for fair remuneration for night work, which has not changed for years. At the moment, nurses receive additional 0.13 euros per hour of night-time work.

According to the chairman of the Union of Bulgarian Medical Specialists, Maya Ilieva, quoted by Monitor, a nurse in a hospital takes care of 20 to 30 patients.

The Minister of Health Stoycho Katsarov met with the protesters and promised that appropriate standards for health care would be prepared.
