Borislav Mihaylov was re-elected president of the Bulgarian Football Union in a highly contested vote. The current head of the national football team won with 241 votes against his main opponent Dimitar Berbatov, for whom 230 delegates voted at today's extraordinary congress. This means that Mihaylov will head the football headquarters for a fifth consecutive term.

Earlier today, dozens of fans protested in front of the National Palace of Culture, where the vote took place, chanting against the incumbent president. However, Nasko Sirakov, who was a delegate for the Levski football club, came out in his support.
His opponent Dimitar Berbatov was nominated by another big club in Sofia - CSKA.
The election procedure took place in the presence of representatives of FIFA and UEFA.
