The 110th anniversary since the birth of clairvoyant Vanga was marked with a solemn liturgy and orthodox chants in the area of Rupite. Hundreds of people attended the commemorative event and the opening of a gallery with paintings dedicated to Vangeliya Gushterova.
The famous claivoyant was born in 1911 to Pando Surchev and Paraskeva Surcheva in Strumica of the Ottoman Empire before the town was ceded to Bulgaria in 1912. At the age of twelve, she lost her vision in a natural disaster and acquired clairvoyant skills. "Bulgarians should remember Vanga from time to time. She used to say: “Don't divide yourselves", the legendary rhythmic gymnastics coach Neshka Robeva said.
