The run-walk event “Ruse Polomie 2021” attracts sports fans and tourists on Saturday, October 2. The ten-kilometer route crosses the valleys of Rusenski Lom, Cherni Lom and Beli Lom rivers, carved into the limestone rocks of Rusenski Lom Nature Park. Participants can cover the distance running, or walking at a slow, moderate and fast speed. The sporting event is part of the 2021 events that mark the 800th anniversary since the creation of the Rock-hewn Churches of Ivanovo. A winding path crossing lush vegetation on the left bank of Rusenski Lom River takes tourists to the rocky cliffs where the Ivanovo rock-hewn churches are located. The Rock-hewn Churches of Ivanovo were included in the UNESCO world heritage list in 1979. 110 bird species nest in this area.
