“For the most part, the country’s post-pandemic recovery plan is finished. The energy industry and rule of law remain problem areas. The open issues there must be resolved urgently so that the plan can be handed over to Brussels,” Deputy Prime Minister for EU Funds Management Atanas Pekanov said for the BNR.

“The positive effect of the coordination of the plan is that all governments to come will have to put through certain reforms. It is high time we said goodbye to our climate illusions – that we have signed all of these things but are not going to implement them,” Atanas Pekanov said. “Now we are being told by Brussels, very curtly, that by 2027 certain energy capacities have to be closed down.”
