"More people infected with Covid-19, more hospitalized and dead - this is the result of low vaccination coverage in Bulgaria," Minister of Health Stoycho Katsarov said in an interview with Austrian media ORF, quoted by the Ministry of Health.

According to Katsarov, mistakes in negotiating purchase of vaccines, the wrong prioritization of groups in the vaccination plan, the poor logistics and the lack of an information campaign have led to people's distrust of the Covid-19 vaccines. According to him, the government of Boyko Borissov made political decisions rather than decisions in favor of people's health.

The total number of persons with a completed vaccination cycle in Bulgaria is 1,312,649, which in a country of 6,916,548 people by 2020 (according to NSI data) is a share of 18.98%.
