Coronavirus mortality in this country is two times higher than the average for the European Union, a report of the Minister of Health Dr. Stoycho Katsarov shows. In addition, this country is last when it comes to the number of vaccines administered. According to the minister, the scandals surrounding the purchase of vaccines and the chaotic decisions made in crisis management have led to the creation of a negative attitude towards immunization against Covid-19.
He has listed other worrying facts: life expectancy in this country is the lowest among all EU Member States, while infant mortality is among the highest; patients pay almost half of the cost of medical care provided to them; Bulgaria is the second country with the lowest number of nurses. Minister Stoycho Katsarov also points out that there are severe regional disparities in proposed treatment, as well as unfair distribution of funds between the different specialties.
