Start of grape harvest in Southwestern Bulgaria

Minister of Agriculture, Food and Forestry Professor Dr. Hristo Bozukov is giving the start to the grape harvest in Hursovo village, Sandanski municipality, today, 15 September.

Depending on the weatherр the grape-gathering period may vary by several weeks. Most often, the campaign starts at the end of August with the early harvesting of white grape varieties and ends at the end of October with red grapes. This year vine growers are expecting a bountiful harvest thanks to the dry and sunny weather which restricted vine disease.
