This country could introduce a third dose of the coronavirus vaccine, Prof. Mira Kozhuharova, advisor to the Minister of Health, has told bTV. The topic is currently being discussed at the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control.

"Once re-vaccination was recommended, our system would be adjusted and a third dose would be introduced," the epidemiologist said. She added that soon the number of Bulgarians vaccinated with two doses of vaccine would reach over 1.2 million people. According to her, this number together with the number of patients who have overcome the illness would make the new wave of the infection "narrower" – it would rise and subside quickly.

Current vaccines provide 80% protection from severe symptoms and hospitalization, the expert added.
