“Inspections are being launched at the height of the summer season along the Black Sea coast to check whether masks are being worn in food and drink establishments, and petrol stations,” Deputy Minister of Health Alexander Zlatanov announced at a briefing.

As coronavirus cases surge, in ten days’ time at the earliest night clubs may have to be closed in these areas. Deputy Minister Zlatanov pointed out that if the anti-epidemic measures are observed, the country could stay within the green Covid-19 zone for a long time. He added that if there is a 4^th wave, hospitals will have 7,000 beds for patients without complications and more than 500 intensive care beds. The new Delta variant of the coronavirus could require a longer hospital stay, the deputy minister warned.
