Actress Maria Bakalova becomes godmother of first Bulgarian military research ship

In Varna, the Oscar-nominated Bulgarian actress Maria Bakalova became the godmother of the first Bulgarian military research ship. It is named after the holy brothers Cyril and Methodius. The ship is owned by a consortium between the Naval School, Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski ”and the Bulgarian Antarctic Institute.

The vessel will provide transportation for the national Antarctic expeditions and carry out research activities in the Antarctic Circle, the World Ocean and the Black Sea. 

The ship will also be used for the practical training of the cadets from the naval school and other educational institutions and will make hydrographic surveys for the Bulgarian navy.
