From 13 to 18 July Varna’s South beach will host the Beach Handball Euro 2021 tournament for men and women. More than 1,200 competitors, 70 judges and delegates and 230 volunteers will take part in the tournament. The players and the guests to Euro 2021 will be put up in more than 800 rooms in 8 hotels in the city. There will be more than 17,000 overnight stays in connection with this sporting event, with more than 90% of the funding earmarked for organizing the championship being invested in the city itself, Bulgarian Handball Federation President Rosen Dobrev said for BGNES.
The championship is taking place in a jubilee year for Varna. In 2021 the city is celebrating 100 years since it was officially declared a seaside resort. Beach Handball Euro 2021 is one of the biggest events to take place in Varna in recent years. Rosen Dobrev says it is going to help popularize Varna and the resorts nearby, and will help boost the future development and assertion of the entire region as a tourist destination.
