Two people detained for heroin trafficking

The Bulgarian border authorities detained a 56-year old Greek citizen after discovering 1 kilogram of heroin stashed between the seats of his car.

Georgi Madolev, spokesperson for the district prosecutor’s office, Blagoevgrad, confirmed for the BNR that the Greek citizen, who attempted to cross the border at Kulata-Promachonas border check point, was detained yesterday afternoon for 72 hours.

One day earlier, on 25 June, the Greek citizen was given the heroin in Petrich by a 57-year old man from Topolnitsa village who has also been detained and charged with drug trafficking.

The district prosecutor’s office, Blagoevgrad is to lodge a request with the court for the two men to be remanded in custody.
