Bulgaria’s President Rumen Radev has awarded the Children’s Radio Choir of the Bulgarian National Radio a St. St. Cyril and Methodius plaque. The distinction is being bestowed on the BNR’s Children’s Radio Choir for its exceptional contribution to the development and the popularization of Bulgarian art and culture, and to mark the 60th anniversary of the choir.

“You need constant attention, care and support from the institutions, in order to uphold the name of Bulgaria . This is a cause of the entire society, not only of the leadership of the Bulgarian National Radio”, noted this country’s head of state Radev during the official award ceremony.

“I accept the award on behalf of generations of talented Bulgarian children who popularized Bulgaria and contributed to this country’s reputation through the beautiful Bulgarian song”, the Chief Conductor of the BNR’s Children’s Radio Choir maestra Venetsia Karamanova said during the ceremony.

“I am very satisfied that some of our pieces became part of the singing books this year. We have performed more than 160 songs in one and a half seasons. Our repertoire consists of more than 800 pieces. We work hard before we perform on the stage and when we go there, we show our capabilities”, Venetsia Karamanova said for the BNR.

On June 30, the BNR’s Children’s Radio Choir is to mark its 60th anniversary with a festive concert at the National Palace of Culture. The events dedicated to the choir’s anniversary are held under the auspices of Bulgaria’s head of state Rumen Radev.
