At a meeting in the city of Drama, regional governors and the Bulgarian Consul General to Thessaloniki, Vladimir Pisanchev, discussed the full opening of the Ilinden-Exochi border crossing for cars and lifting of existing restrictions for trucks.

According to data of the two neighboring countries, the epidemic situation is under control and the restrictions on passing through the checkpoint should be lifted, in order to prevent traffic jams at the "Kulata-Promachonas" border checkpoint. This is the position expressed by the regional governor of Blagoevgrad, Nikolay Shushkov and the mayors of the municipalities along the Mesta River, who call for lifting the restriction on the passage of heavy trucks in the hours from 7:00 to 23:00. However, five Greek ministries are involved in making the decision and this could take time.
