Visa fee changes under discussion

Interim Foreign Minister Svetlan Stoev is proposing an increase, from 60 to 8o euro, in fees for non-EU citizens for obtaining Bulgarian short-stay visas.

The proposals are posted to the ministry’s website for public consultations. The reason given for the increase are the amendments to the EU visa code.

The price increase is not valid for citizens of countries which have visa facilitation agreements with the EU. For them the fee is 35 euro. Such countries are Russia, Azerbaijan, Armenia and Belarus.

Another change being proposed is a reduction – from 7.5 to 2.5 euro – of the fee for certification by apostille of documents issued by Bulgarian public authorities.
