The Ministry of Energy is mulling over ways to keep TPP Maritsa-Iztok 2 working after 1 July without this affecting electricity prices for households, Minister of Energy Andrey Zhivkov announced.

On 9 June, President Rumen Radev assured the TUs that the government would look for ways to keep the thermal power station working after 1 July.

Minister Zhivkov has sent a letter to the company building the Gas Interconnector Greece-Bulgaria, demanding that it keep the deadline for building the interconnector. If not, the Bulgarian side will seek default fees amounting to 90,000 euro a day.
