Those who have once visited the village of Dobarsko want to come back again, because time is never enough to enjoy all local sights. The village reveals a stunning view of the entire Razlog Valley, the majestic Pirin Mountain and the heights of the Rhodope Mountain. The village of Dobarsko is located on the southern slopes of Rila Mountain at an altitude of 1,050 meters above sea level. Many Bulgarian and foreign tourists, who spend their holiday at the nearby resort town of Bansko, visit this Bulgarian village.
The church of Sts. Theodore Tyron and Theodore Stratelates is the only one in Bulgaria dedicated to these two saints. A 600 year-old fresco depicts Jesus Christ in a rocket. Many biblical scenes depicted by the church’s frescoes do not conform to the church canon. The images of St. Demetrius, St. Theodore Tyron and St. Theodore Stratelates dominated this church.
The legend has it that the water of the small mineral spring located in the yard of the local church has healing properties. The nearby waterfall Shtrakaloto also attracts a number of tourists. You can learn more details about this Bulgarian village in Radio Bulgaria’s article: “Dobarsko and its vicinities-a unique combination of ancient history and beautiful nature”.
