The number of road traffic victims in Bulgaria has increased, announced the Road Safety Institute. 162 people have died in road traffic accidents since the beginning of 2021, which is 17 people more as compared to the same period last year. Since the beginning of May this year, the number of road traffric victims increased by nesrly 50% as compafred to the period May-June 2020. The Road Safety Institute calls on Bulgaria’s authorities to take urgent action aimed to improve the current situation.
“If we don’t take control of the situation immediately, we will totally lose control over road safety”, notes the Road Safety Institute. It calls on the Bulgarian Ministry of Interior to provide round-the-clock control at the places with highest concentration of traffic accidents and complete the necessary repair and maintenance works in these areas within a month, informs the reporter of the Bulgarian National Radio Dobromir Videv.
