Prior to the announcement of sanctions against oligarchs Vasil Bozhkov and Delyan Peevski, US Ambassador Herro Mustafa met with ambassadors of allied countries to Sofia, the Bulgarian President, government officials, leaders of various parties, including Boyko Borissov, and activists from the civic sector. This was what Mustafa said at a meeting with Bulgarian journalists, which was also attended by Paul Ahern, a senior official in the U.S. Department of Treasury.
"We have not met with Chief Prosecutor Geshev. This is not on our agenda yet," Mustafa said. Asked whether the United States was ready to provide all available information to the Bulgarian Prosecutor's Office, Ahern said that the institution would have access only to the official statement. "When it comes to bilateral cooperation, we will be happy to work with foreign jurisdictions as much as possible," he added.
