The head of the Cultural and Historical Valuable Sector in the General Directorate of the National Police, Angel Papalezov, has been accused of participating in an organized criminal group, possession and trafficking of cultural and historical valuables and money laundering, the Specialized Prosecutor's Office has reported. A search has been carried out at his home and office.

"Don't ask me to comment on false statements made by a politician in a pre-election situation. The Prosecutor's Office can't stop working just because someone doesn't like it," spokesperson of the Chief Prosecutor Siika Mileva said. Minister of Interior Boyko Rashkov said the prosecution had launched searches of members of the group that was checking allegations of illegal wiretapping.

During the search in Papalezov's office, many items bearing the marks of movable cultural property were found, mostly coins. The printouts attached to them are evidence of tender procedures at one of the largest auctions in Germany, reported BGNES .
