Bulgarian President warns of risks stemming from EU climate plans

After the decision for reducing greenhouse gas emissions by more than 55% by 2030 and the absence of measures aimed at protecting countries like Bulgaria, rich countries will become even richer and poor countries will become even poorer and noncompetitive. This is what Bulgarian President Rumen Radev said at the European Council meeting in Brussels.

In order to move towards a climate-neutral economy, we need serious investments that must come "from those who push us in this direction." Bulgaria does not have the resources to do this alone, the President added.

"Therefore, we want the Recovery and Sustainability Plan to include projects that can contribute fast to the construction of the necessary modern and efficient facilities that meet the green requirements and above all guarantee the autonomy of our energy sphere", President Radev said.
