The Recovery and Sustainability Plan does not sufficiently meet the ambitious goals of the European Commission, Atanas Pekanov, Deputy Prime Minister responsible for European funds management, has told BNR. He said that the cabinet was currently working hard to save the plan. "The goals of the EC must be adjusted to the situation in Bulgaria, so that they are not harmful to any region," the Deputy PM said.

According to him, the future was in science and innovation and priorities should be focused on technological development. Atanas Pekanov also said that it seemed EU funds did not help Bulgaria enough in catching up with other Member States.

According to him, one of the main responsibilities of the caretaker cabinet was to ensure that political instability did not turn into economic instability.
