On May 14, the Bulgarian system for digital green certificates was made interoperable with the systems of other European countries, announced this country‘s caretaker Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Georgi Todorov. The Digital Green Certificate is a proof that a person has been vaccinated against Covid-19, received a negative test result or recovered from Covid-19. The Digital Green Certificate is expected to go live on 1 June, in order to facilitate free travel within the EU.

500,000 electronic prescriptions have already been issued in Bulgaria, Minister Todorov announced. The system is actively used by more than 2,300 general practitioners and 2,100 pharmacies. Paper prescriptions will be completely replaced by e-prescriptions after June 1.
