The utilized agricultural area in Bulgaria has increased by 9% in the past 10 years, indicates preliminary data from the Census of Agricultural Holdings in 2020, announced this country‘s Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Forestry. In 2020, there were 3.96 million hectares of utilized agricultural area, while ten years earlier, there were 3.62 million hectares of utilized agricultural area.
The average farm size in Bulgaria increased from 10 hectares in 2010 to 33 hectares in 2020. Nearly 60% of the agricultural area is planted with cereals. 31% of the agricultural area is planted with industrial crops.
