Boyko Borissov: Bulgaria has come out of the third wave of Covid-19

Bulgaria has emerged from the third wave of the coronavirus epidemic. This was announced by the outgoing Prime Minister Boyko Borissov, referring to a study by the Robert Koch Institute. He pointed out that this good result in Bulgaria was achieved with much lighter measures than in other countries where there was a complete lock-down.

According to the Robert Koch Institute, Bulgaria is already entering the zone at risk of becoming infected with Covid-19 after leaving the zone of high-risk countries.

Health Minister: Green corridors for vaccination could be extended

Nearly 274,000 doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine have arrived in Bulgaria earlier today. This preparation, as well as the AstraZeneca vaccine, will be administered to everyone wishing to get vaccination in the green vaccination corridors until 9 May.

The outgoing Minister of Health Kostadin Angelov stated at a briefing that an analysis of the available doses of vaccines was forthcoming and, if possible, the green corridors would be extended. He said that a new procedure would be launched on May 10, where GPs would be able to request the desired number of vaccines and receive information when they could receive them. At the moment, doctors are queuing up in person to get the necessary vaccines, BNR reported.

Bulgaria reports 9% positive cases of coronavirus in past day

Bulgaria has recorded a total of 631 new cases of coronavirus. 9.38% of the 6,724 samples taken are positive, according to the data in the Unified Information Portal at midnight.

Most new cases are registered in Sofia - 206, Burgas - 43, Plovdiv - 38, Varna - 33.

The number of patients who have died in the past day is 56 persons. 726 patients were reported to have recovered.

There are currently 6,706 patients with coronavirus infection in hospital, 649 of them - in intensive care units.

A total of 8,887 vaccines have been administered in the last 24 hours. The number of vaccinated persons with the second dose has reached 219.833.

The so-called "green corridors" for vaccination against Covid-19 will continue to work until May 9. Today, nearly 274,000 doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine arrive in the country.

Bulgarian hotel owners pays for PCR tests of Romanian tourists

Bulgarian and Romanian tourists have been predominant on the northern Black Sea coast since the beginning of the Easter holidays in Bulgaria. This was shared by hotel owners from the resorts near Varna in front of BNR correspondent Daniela Stoynova.

Nearly 10 hotels are already open in the resorts "Golden Sands", "St. Constantine and Elena" and "Sunny Day". Romanians are half as many as in 2019. Some hoteliers have begun to cover the costs of the PCR tests of Romanian tourists, which are required to show a PCR test result when they return home.

This measure to attract tourists is being considered by other hoteliers in the country.
