On the eve of the Easter holidays, a Dutchman became a member of the Municipal Council of Veliko Tarnovo (Central North Bulgaria). Jacob van Beylen entered the local municipal council after lawyer Kaloyan Yankov was elected an MP. The seventy-two-year-old Dutchman has lived in Bulgaria for 11 years. In 1967, he visited this country for the first time as a tourist.

Jacob backs every green cause in Veliko Tarnovo.  Last summer Jacob participated at the anti-government protests and informed the Dutch media about the events in Bulgaria. One of his priorities is to create opportunities for the development of sustainable tourism in the region of Veliko Tarnovo, reported the correspondent of the Bulgarian National Radio in Veliko Tarnovo Zdravka Maslyankova.
